Adidas sent me a replacement ball after finding out the one I brought back from South Africa was defective. I shipped the original ball to Oregon last week and Monday a new one arrived via FedEx. I was very surprised to see that they had actually upgraded the ball to the Jo’Bulani model (used only in the Final between Spain and The Netherlands).  We took the ball out for a spin on the pitch to find out to get a feel for what players and goalkeepers had to deal with during the World Cup.
The ball really does fly, it plays very fast and the panel  graphics actually make it very hard to see it in the air.  I can see why so many people complained about it, and Adidas actually admitted that it may have a problem.  Wind-tunnel tests were conducted in Japan and the scientist determined that the ball was “a perfect sphere” which seemed to cause trajectory problems in the air. Overall the ball was fun to play with, none of our “scientists” had too many issues scoring goals. Special thanks to Adidas for the quick replacement and upgrade!
